The TDI Intro to Tech course is the perfect course for divers who have heard about technical diving and want to find out more about this exciting branch of advanced recreational diving. This course walks students through the special techniques, planning procedures and skills that set technical diving apart from traditional sport diving. It will show them how to improve their dive planning methods, in water skills, and streamline their existing gear configuration in a non-threatening and fun learning environment.
The specific skill this course will highlight are:

  • Advanced Buoyancy Control
  • Gas Management
  • Situational Awareness
  • Trim
  • Gear configuration and selection
  • And many more

TDI's Intro to Tech course is a useful stand-alone course for the diver who wants to become a more skilled, more proficient diver regardless of if he intends to more on to technical diving. The course may also be used as an introduction to the TDI Advanced Nitrox course.

Finally, it is a good refresher for certified technical divers who may want to refresh their skills or have them re-evaluated by a TDI technical instructor. Requires 3 dives (not included).

The TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver course is designed to introduce skilled and experienced divers with a recreational Nitrox certification to the theories and techniques required for Technical diving. The focus is on gear configuration and equipment usage. Gas switching, utilizing a stage bottle with EAN50 or greater, advanced emergency techniques and lift bag deployment are introduced during the course.

  • Estimated classroom time: 8-10 hours
  • Required training dives: 4
  • Included:Instruction, textbook, certification fees
  • Gear Requirements: Technical diving requires special considerations when it comes to gear. Please see the list of GEAR REQUIREMENTS

The TDI Decompression Procedures Diver course is the next step in extending one's depth range. Deco will build on the skill sets developed in Adv. Nitrox and create proficiency with planning and safely conducting Decompression dives to a depth of 150'. Redundancy and task loading are stressed throughout the course. Applicants must demonstrate the proper attitude towards gas management, situational awareness and buoyancy control. This course is a prerequisite for Extended Range and Trimix.

  • Estimated classroom time: 8-10 hours
  • Required training dives: 6
  • Included: Instruction, materials, certification fees
  • Gear Requirements: Technical diving requires special considerations when it comes to gear. Please see the list of GEAR REQUIREMENTS

Combine TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures and save money and time- the two course can be taken in tandem with a reduced dive requirement of 6 dives and 12 hours of classroom.  Take 25% off the price for the combined course!

The TDI Extended Range Diver course introduces new skills and more task loading, as well as honing one's Decompression techniques. You will employ alternative decompression planning methods, multiple stage bottle transport with gas switches, and safely conduct accelerated decompression dives to 180'. This is a performance based program, designed to determine one's competency with increased narcosis, multiple emergency scenarios and planning/execution discipline. This course will prepare to to enter the world of Trimix diving.

  • Estimated classroom time: 8 hours
  • Required training dives: 6
  • Included: Instruction, materials, certification fees
  • Gear Requirements: Technical diving requires special considerations when it comes to gear. Please see the list of GEAR REQUIREMENTS

As your motivation to explore progresses you will find that you may want to go deeper to experience a historic shipwreck or cave system that you have read so much about. One of the major limiting factors of going deeper is narcosis;

TDI's Trimix Diver course shows how to minimize the effects of narcosis by adding helium to offset the nitrogen in your breathing gas.

While taking the Trimix Diver course your TDI Instructor will teach you how to plan and execute dives utilizing as little as 18 percent oxygen and diving to maximum depth of 60 m/200 feet with a blend of helium appropriate for the planned depth.

The Trimix course covers topics and skills including:

  • Dive team planning
  • Gas matching
  • Multiple stage management
  • Accelerated Decompression
  • Surface marker deployment
  • Equipment configuration
  • Thermal protection options
