We are currently one of the few facilities approved to teach Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, First Aid, and Waterfront Lifeguarding course in Nassau County and Suffolk County on Long Island.
Both agencies qualify as a prerequisite for Nassau County Lifeguarding & Camps.

Pre-Test Requirements for Lifeguarding:
To be eligible for the Lifeguard course, the participant must be 15 years of age on or before the final scheduled session of the course. The participant must complete the following:
1. Swim 300 Yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing in both Breast and Front crawl. See below for a breakdown.
- 100 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing propellant kick. Rhythmic breathing can be performed either by breathing to the side or the front.
- 100 yards of breaststroke using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence.
- 100 yards of either the front crawl or breaststroke. The 100 yards may be a combination of front crawl and breaststroke.
Note: There is no time requirement for this skill.
2. Tread Water for Two (2) minutes using only the legs.
3. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object, and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
Note: When returning to the starting point, the participant must hold the 10-pound object with both hands, place the brick on his or her chest, and must keep his or her face above the water. The participant can swim on his or her back using an elementary backstroke kick, flutter kick or a rotary (eggbeater) kick.
Certification: Lifeguarding/First aid/CPR/AED- valid for 2 years. One year for camps.
Pre-Test requirements: For Waterfront Lifeguarding, the COURSE DATE HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED DUE TO UPDATE. Check back at future dates.
To be eligible for the Waterfront Lifeguarding course, the participant must be 15 years of age on or before the final scheduled session of the course. The participant must complete the following:
1. Swim 550 yards (about 500 meters) continuously, using these strokes in the following order:
- 200 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing propellant kick. Rhythmic breathing can be performed either by breathing to the side or to the front.
- 200 yards of breaststroke using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence.
- 150 yards of either the front crawl or breaststroke. The 150 yards may be a combination of front crawl and breaststroke.

Note: There is no time requirement for this skill.
2. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object, and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

3. Swim 5 yards; submerge and retrieve three dive rings placed 5 yards apart in 4-7 feet of water; resurface, and swim 5 yards to the side of the pool.
Note: Participants must pick up the three objects placed 5 yards apart. While retrieving the dive rings, participants must stay under the water.
4. Tread Water for Two (2) minutes using only the legs.**

WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATIONS
Lifeguard Training, Water Safety Instructor (WSI), certification classes on Long Island New York. We have Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) classes in Nassau County and Suffolk County.
To qualify for the course you must Be:
WSI candidates must be at least 16 years old.
Demonstrate the ability to perform the following swimming skills (on the first day of class): Swim the following strokes consistent with Level 4: Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Breaststroke, Elementary Backstroke, Sidestroke – 25 yards. Butterfly – 15 yards.
