Denis Mellett is an avid diver that grew up on the waters of the north shore of Long Island. Having learned to dive as a teenager, when his family was old enough to be introduced to the other 70% of the globe, he got back into diving by taking an Open Water class alongside his son. Moving up through the ranks, taking classes anywhere he could find one, he eventually crossed paths with Scuba Steve. Steve became an instructor and a mentor, taught Denis the finer points of teaching, and was the Course Director that signed off on Denis' Instructor Development Course.

These days, Denis is in the water locally year-round, diving and teaching diving. He rarely passes up an opportunity to get in the water at any time for any reason. One of the few things Denis enjoys more than the chance to spend time underwater is the chance to teach others to be able to safely enjoy and experience his favorite pastime.
